The Cleveland Browns aim to have a Super Bowl caliber pass rush, adding four defensive linemen to an already talented group. Jachai Polite adds a purer speed element while Jaylon Ferguson is more of an all-around player. Daniel Wise and Cortez Broughton are two players that could really help them upgrade their rotation on the inside.
Additionally, it’s about adding more weapons to fit around Baker Mayfield. Andy Isabella is one of the fastest players on the planet who knows how to get open. T.J. Hockenson is a really gifted tight end that can do a little bit of everything and only adds to what David Njoku can do for this team. Olamide Zaccheaus will probably be regarded as a gadget player, but he’s another player that can generate explosive plays,
T.J. Edwards in particular but hopefully Blake Cashman can help them improve their linebacker depth and ultimately take over when the team moves on from the likes of Jamie Collins and Chris Kirksey to play with Joe Schobert. The pair of Badgers linebackers could be the future of this defense.
Last but not least, the Browns continue to add depth in Tytus Howard and Nate Brooks. Neither position group has a need necessarily, but adding more talent and depth in case of injury or simply hoping to end up with a better group is a worthwhile investment.
This draft isn’t so much about building blocks as the Browns largely have those in place. There are certainly players that could add to that, but the roster should be able to make the playoffs with little help. This becomes more about building on what’s there and expanding on an identity that can take another step forward into the postseason.
