12. Green Bay Packers: Jachai Polite, EDGE, Florida

Another team that will be starting 2019 with a new coach after more than a decade is the Green Bay Packers, who fired Mike McCarthy during the season. He had been there since 2006 and won a Super Bowl with them, but he seemed to have become stale with the players and it was time to make a change.

They also have to realize it’s time to make a change with some of their key veteran players. Green Bay started this process last year when they cut wideout Jordy Nelson and that could carry over to Randall Cobb this season who may not return. Another player who could be done is linebacker Clay Matthews, who has been one of the more popular players on the team for years.

Turning the page is never easy, but it has to be done and that’s what Green Bay is attempting to do by selecting an edge rusher with this pick. The player they choose is Florida’s Jachai Polite, the breakout pass rusher from 2018. Polite wasn’t on too many radars to start the season, but after recording 45 tackles and 11 sacks, he’s gotten plenty of attention now.
