15. Washington Redskins: Daniel Jones, QB, Duke

After deciding to move on from Kirk Cousins, the Washington Redskins elected to give some big money to former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith. He started out looking like the real deal for the Redskins and had them in the lead in the NFC East.

Then he suffered a gruesome broken leg and had complications with the surgical repair. There has to be a legitimate concern about the position moving forward — and even if Smith comes back he will be in his mid-30s so planning for the future wouldn’t be a bad idea.

They could elect to go with a second round pick at the position, but the presence of Daniel Jones here makes them want to pull the trigger early. Jones didn’t get to play on the big stages as players such as Lock and Haskins did, but the Duke quarterback still showed all the tools NFL scouts look for.

He has the size (6-5, 220 pounds) and arm to make it at the next level. He’s also shown strong decision making, which is evident by his 22-to-9 touchdown to interception ratio during 2018. He may need a season or two to get ready for the big time, but Jones should be a star in the future.
