29. New England Patriots: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn

Last season, the New England Patriots had two picks in the opening round and went with an offensive tackle and running back — both from Georgia. Isaiah Wynn looked primed to be a starter on the O-line, but a torn Achilles ended his season before it began. Michel was a versatile back at UGA and while he didn’t do a lot as a receiver, he did have a fantastic year on the ground with 931 yards rushing.

Now, they look to add some help on the defensive line. They have two free agent defensive tackles coming up as Danny Shelton and Malcom Brown both are set to hit the open market. It wouldn’t be shocking to see New England allow one — or even both — go get a bigger contract elsewhere.

Should they elect to do this, adding a replacement in the draft would be ideal. Derrick Brown would be an ideal replacement. The 325-pound defensive tackle from Auburn is nearly impossible to block one-on-one, but he proved to be more than just a big body for the Tigers.

He also found himself sacking the quarterback 8.5 times in three seasons, with 7.5 coming the past two years. He fits the mold of what the Patriots like on defense as he can attack opposing offenses in more than one way.
