4. Oakland Raiders: Josh Allen, EDGE, Kentucky

Hiring Jon Gruden after 10 years as an ESPN broadcaster on Monday Night Football last season was just the appetizer for the Oakland Raiders. They were only getting warmed up then as they headed into this offseason ready to shock us all as they hired Mike Mayock to be their general manager.

To be fair, Gruden is a Super Bowl winning coach, so it’s not like they were going on blind faith when they hired him. He just became an easy target after he was seen more like a zany color commentator than a coach — which can happen after 10 years away from the game.

As for Mayock, he’s a well-respected talent scout. He’s done well for years scouting incoming college talent for the NFL Network. Of course, there’s so much more to being a GM than scouting collegiate players, but Mayock’s first chance to be evaluated will be on draft night and with the fourth pick he goes for an impact player in Josh Allen from Kentucky.

The edge rusher from the SEC returned for a senior season and did nothing but raise his stock. He’s also claiming he should be the top pick, and he’s not too far from it here. Allen will also have a chance to really shine as Oakland will need him to be their top pass rusher immediately.
