8. Detroit Lions: Clelin Ferrell, EDGE, Clemson

In 2018, there were two big names on the Clemson defensive line that looked ready to go into the draft and be selected in the first round. Both Clelin Ferrell and Christian Wilkins were considered early selection, but they both decided to return for a senior season. That decision didn’t hurt either of their draft stock, but it may have shot Ferrell up the boards quite a bit.

He was an effective edge rusher as a redshirt freshman and sophomore as he recorded 15.5 sacks in those two seasons. He proved to be even better this season, recording 11.5 sacks in 14 games with the championship match against Alabama still on the schedule.

Now the 6-5, 260-pound edge rusher finds himself selected in the top-10 as the Detroit Lions bring him in to replace Ezekiel Ansah who played on the franchise tag in 2018. The reason Ansah was tagged — as opposed to the Lions giving him a long-term contract — was his struggles with durability. That proved to be the wise move as Ansah played in just seven games this season and will more than likely move on this offseason.

For Detroit, they will at least have someone to bring pressure off the edge still thanks to landing Ferrell.
