Kliff Kingsbury has been selected to lead the Arizona Cardinals as their head coach for 2019 and beyond. What does he bring to the table?

The Arizona Cardinals have selected Kliff Kingsbury as the franchise’s 42nd head coach. Kingsbury is a young offensive minded coach. Just exactly will he bring to Arizona?

Kingsbury is seen as a quarterback whisperer. Two of his former Texas Tech quarterbacks are playing well in the NFL currently. Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield are doing very well with their respective teams.

Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com quoted Mahomes and his reaction to the Kingsbury hire:

"“I’m fired up for coach Kingsbury and his family,” said Mahomes, now the quarterback of the Chiefs. “The Cardinals are getting an outstanding, football coach and an even better person. He’s smart, creative, passionate, and really understands how to develop and relate to players. I feel like he played a huge role in preparing me for the next step, and I’m grateful for that.”"

Arizona has Josh Rosen as their young face of the franchise. Kingsbury should be able to mold and mature Rosen to become the Jim Hart of this generation. Rosen should be excited to see Arizona take such a bold step forward.

Kingsbury played for Mike Leach at Texas Tech. Leach is famous for engineering the air raid type of spread offense. Expect Kingsbury to be the primary play caller like Leach.

It will be interesting to see Kingsbury fill his coaching staff. Whether he retains anyone from Steve Wilk’s staff is debatable. He may choose to bring in his own staff for a fresh new start for the Redbirds.

What will Kingsbury bring to the Cardinals? He brings the blessing from the GOAT, Tom Brady. According to Urban, per AZCardinals.com:

"“Kliff has done a great job at Texas Tech, and I know he’s at USC, but it doesn’t surprise me that a lot of (NFL) teams are interested,” Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said Monday on WEEI. “He’s just a great football mind, and he’ll be successful wherever he’s at.”"
