2019 NFL Draft: Best landing spots for the top quarterback prospects
Will Grier, West Virginia – New England Patriots
Will Grier is one of the more talented quarterbacks in the draft. He’s sure to hear his name called early in the first two days of the proceeding. The chances of the New England Patriots acquiring him isn’t all that far-fetched. And the possibility of Grier and the Patriots matching up is one made in heaven.
The Patriots have a lateral offense that’s ideally suited for a player with Grier’s skill-set. Grier does a great job with anticipation. Like Tom Brady, his arm doesn’t wow anyone, but he does a great job throwing receivers open.
Another positive about Grier’s game is his ability to extend plays inside the pocket. With any young quarterback, that’s a needed quality when adjusting to the NFL. Bill Belichick does a fantastic job surrounding himself with great coordinators. An organization like that Patriots will allow Grier to succeed. If he’s thrown in as a rookie, they have a running back in Sony Michel who can take the pressure off.
Grier is a bit undisciplined as a passer, so sitting being arguably the greatest quarterback of all time could help if Brady doesn’t hang them up just yet. Yet, if whenever Brady does go out, the Patriots will have a player ready-made to take over the offense for the future.
