It was just last year when the Philadelphia Eagles went into the NFL Playoffs with Nick Foles taking over at quarterback and made a magical run to the Super Bowl. They’re looking to repeat history in 2019 as they’ve already won once and now travel to the Big Easy to take on the top seed in the NFC, the New Orleans Saints, in the Divisional Round.
The Eagles and the Saints actually met in the regular season and it was as lopsided as it gets in favor of the home team on Sunday afternoon. Drew Brees and Co. ran up the score on the defending champions, ultimately topping them to the tune of 48-7. It was an embarrassing loss for Philly, but it seemingly galvanized them down the stretch.
Since that loss, the Eagles have been white hot, which helped them finish strong and punch their ticket to the postseason. Last week in the Wild Card Round, Foles was fine against the vaunted Bears defense, but the Philadelphia defense came up even bigger — as did the Chicago goal posts that clanked the potential game-winner for Chicago.
As for the Saints, Brees and the offense has looked lesser as of late, but we know how potent they can be with weapons like Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas. Their defense, however, has taken up the mantle and performed like a top-tier unit to finish the year. They’ll be looking to stop Foles’ magical narrative once and for all.

As stated, the Saints were dominant in their victory over the Eagles in the regular season. They’re certainly hoping for more of the same in the Divisional Round, but with the Nick Foles magic that we became familiar with in the playoffs last season, you can never count anything out at this point when it comes to the defending Super Bowl champs.
