2018 NFL Draft: Grading every first-round pick after rookie year
21. Billy Price, C, Cincinnati Bengals
2018 Stats:Â N/A
It’s been a fairly unremarkable first year in the NFL for Billy Price, who missed a huge part of his rookie campaign due to an early-season foot injury. After suffering the injury in Week 2, the Ohio State product didn’t see the field again until Week 10.
Even when he was on the field, there wasn’t anything special to see in Price’s game. He struggled more often than not, getting beaten at the point of attack and struggled with many of the quicker, more athletic interior defenders he faced. Then again, missing a big chunk of the season probably didn’t help his cause.
The ultimate low came in Week 14 when his bad snap led to Andy Dalton suffering a season-ending thumb injury. Realistically, it was an isolated incident, but many used it to characterized what was an overall unspectacular rookie year for Price.
The future still looks bright for the No. 21 overall pick. Price was a sensational presence along the front five for the Buckeyes, which is why the Bengals spent a first-round pick on him in the first place. The hope is he can turn things around in 2019, but the early signs suggest there’s significant bust potential with Price.
