29. New England Patriots: Zach Allen, DT, Boston College

Once again, the New England Patriots find themselves in the AFC Championship game despite a season that wasn’t their norm. New England had more questions this season and struggled to get the ball downfield. They even went out and traded for Josh Gordon, knowing he was a risky proposition.

Gordon ended up not playing the full season, but he was a factor before he stepped away from the game — and then was suspended again. In their first playoff game though, none of the problems they had in the passing game seemed to matter whatsoever.

Tom Brady went for 343 yards passing with Julian Edelman gaining 151 yards of that. They also had 129 yards from Sony Michel, which was a dominant performance out of the rookie running back.

Understanding that their offense can move the ball perfectly fine as it is, they use their first pick in this 2019 NFL Mock Draft on Zach Allen out of Boston College. The defensive lineman can play inside as a tackle but also lined up as an end for the Eagles. He’s a great defender who racks up tackles like a linebacker. This is the exact kind of player the Pats put on defense and turn into a star.
