2019 NFL Mock Draft: Defensive line dominates as quarterbacks fall
By Randy Gurzi
30. Los Angeles Rams: Noah Fant, TE, Iowa
With all eyes on the explosive passing game in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, the Los Angeles Rams shocked everyone by pounding the ball repeatedly against the Dallas Cowboys. The fifth-ranked rush defense in the NFL was caught off-guard as both Todd Gurley and C.J. Anderson went for more than 100 yards and finished with 273 combined yards on the ground in the eight-point win.
They now find themselves just one game away from a Super Bowl berth and this was the goal all along as they put together a great roster. Gurley was their best player and Jared Goff has developed into one of the better quarterbacks in the league. They’re also great at receiver with Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods, and Cooper Kupp — who sadly is out with a torn ACL.
While it would be tempting to add more to their defense, the Rams actually continue to pile weapons on the offense with this pick. Their choice is Noah Fant, who could provide them with a passing threat over the middle of the field. The Iowa tight end was a red zone threat that would become a favorite of Goff’s and would upgrade the position significantly as well.
