The Dallas Cowboys got farther than expected this season and we now look at five free agents who could help them get over the hump in 2019

A 10-6 season erased the stench of a 3-5 start, but the Dallas Cowboys still fell two games short of the ultimate goal which is, of course, the Super Bowl. Just like when they last won the NFC East in 2016, the Boys saw their season end in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs.

This time, it was at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams, who did whatever they wanted to on offense. The Cowboys highly-touted defense struggling to find answers for what L.A. brought to the table and their own offense was unable to keep pace.

While the narrative is that Dallas blew it, the fact is they were the underdogs and simply couldn’t outscore one of the better offenses in the entire NFL this season. While there’s no shame in that, they do have to realize that they have a lot of work to do in order to become a legitimate contender in 2019.

With them being out a first-round pick due to the Amari Cooper trade, that could mean their biggest impact would have to come via free agency. While they haven’t been big players in that department in recent years, this could be the season to change their philosophy.

Should they do so, we have three targets here that the Cowboys should consider as they look to improve in 2019.
