The narrative is that the Dallas Cowboys can’t win the big game, but they’re closer than many think. These 5 steps could put them over the top next season.

Another season for the Dallas Cowboys ends earlier than they hoped for as they were knocked out of the playoffs in the divisional round — a round they haven’t gotten past since the mid-1990s. While they did have some success this season, the fact is their goal isn’t just to compete, but to win it all.

The good news for the Cowboys is they’re closer than people realize. Take, for instance, their play against the remaining NFC teams. The Rams were favored over Dallas and they even took a 20-7 lead into halftime. The Cowboys then made it a game and ended up losing 30-22, but they were in it until the final minutes. Now, the Rams head to New Orleans to play the Saints, a team the Cowboys beat 13-10 earlier this season.

So while they will go back to the drawing board, they do have a roster with enough talent to win against the elite teams. And that roster is incredibly young, which means the 2018 season could be a springboard for them rather than an indication of who they will always be.

With all that being said, we can now take a long look at the team that started out the season 3-5 before going on a 7-1 run to make the postseason and show five easy steps for them to follow en route to a Super Bowl berth following the 2019 NFL Season.
