Malik Jackson

Malik Jackson signed with the Jaguars after winning a Super Bowl in Denver. He has provided great veteran leadership throughout his time with Jacksonville. He is scheduled to have a $15 million cap hit.

Jackson, himself, speculated that his time in a Jaguars uniform is coming to a close. Ken Patra of NFL.com reports the following:

"“In my mind, if I’m third or fourth on the depth chart making $14.5 million to $15 million, I don’t see too much future for me in Jacksonville,” Jackson said Wednesday, via The Florida Times Union. “I’m not trying to be a journeyman by any means. But it’s a business and soon as you try to forget that then it’s a rude awakening for sure.”"

By cutting ties with Jackson, the Jaguars would save $11 million, per Spotrac. However, there would still be $4 million in dead money charged to Jacksonville. It would be cheaper to sever ties with him about $7 million cheaper.

The salary cap space would become $24 million, per spotrac.com. In just four moves, the Jaguars would begin to create some cash to sign a free agent. There is young talent on the defensive line. After the decision on Jackson, it gets a little difficult.
