Leonard Fournette

The argument to cutting Leonard Fournette is a tricky one. Fournette has a long history of being injury prone. However, the former No. 4 overall draft pick is battling the Jaguars because of his lapses in judgement. He could be release depending upon how everything works itself out.

In two seasons, Fournette has yet to play a full schedule of games. In 2017, he played in 13 games and in eight games this past season. Remember, he has been suspended by Jacksonville in both seasons.

He missed a team event last season. Fournette left the bench to fight a Buffalo player. Coughlin and the Jaguars moved to void his future salary guarantees. He filed a grievance, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

If the Jaguars decision is upheld, they could move to release Fournette. This would free around $7 million to make the Jaguars cap number $31 million. Florio explains the following:

"An arbitrator ultimately will decide … As previously explained, the language of the contract supports an argument that a suspension arising from on-field misconduct doesn’t void the guarantees."

You have to wonder if Fournette’s time is over in Jacksonville. A decision will be made after the grievance has been settled. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
