Jacksonville Jaguars

This seems like the obvious landing spot for Nick Foles this offseason, especially with the Jaguars recently naming John DeFilippo the team’s new offensive coordinator. The two already have experience with working closely together when DeFilippo was the Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach in 2017.

Despite this connection, Jacksonville signing Foles this year might be a little difficult based on the team’s current salary cap situation. The Jaguars are currently sitting with just around $3.5 million in cap space (per Over the Cap) and the team will need to make some significant cuts this offseason to free up some spending money.

Jacksonville can increase their cap space this year in an effort to sign Foles, but it’s likely going to come with the team parting ways with guys like Marcell Dareus, Malik Jackson, A.J. Bouye, and possibly Blake Bortles. At least letting go of Bortles seems like and obvious decision for the Jaguars to make.

Foles is probably going to want to be making at least $15 million in 2019, so Jacksonville definitely needs to make some serious roster moves before they can even think about signing the quarterback this year. But if the Jaguars are serious about adding Foles to their team in 2019, they will do everything that is necessary to get him there.
