The Oakland Raiders have loaded up on first-round picks and they can use them to load up on stud prospects, which they do in this 7-round 2019 mock draft.

Year one of the Jon Gruden revival of the Oakland Raiders was an unmitigated disaster. From trades that sent out Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper, arguably the two best players on the roster, to a severe lack of success that was just good enough to keep them out of the top pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, things could not have gone worse for the Raiders.

Having said that, Gruden will be entering the second year of a 10-year contract in the 2019 season, and it’s clear that he’s looking to build a team himself. Though the aforementioned trades are tough to swallow still — especially with both Chicago and Dallas being playoff teams — the Raiders do have a bevy of picks to make big moves in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Armed with three first-round picks in the 2019 draft (Nos. 4, 24 and 27), the Raiders have the chance to add elite talent to a roster that desperately needs it. When you talk about team needs, there’s not a spot that seems wholly certain moving forward for this team, even with Derek Carr at quarterback. They simply need to add elite talent and build a roster that has been broken down.

Luckily for the Raiders, the 2019 NFL Draft class is a deep one that has high-level talent well past the first 32 selections and has plenty of players that will be late-round picks that should be able to contribute early in their careers. A team like the Raiders that has players starting with no business of being on the field in that role has to be happy to see that.

As such, with the 2018-19 season coming to a close at conference championship weekend, we’ll try to set the Oakland Raiders up for the future — or at least start to — with a 7-round 2019 mock draft.
