Oakland Raiders: 7-Round 2019 mock draft lands stud prospects
Round 6, Pick 23: Emanuel Hall, WR, Missouri
When you watch Emanuel Hall, he’s a player that the Raiders have been looking for in terms of the physical tools. The Missouri product has the speed and quickness to beat NFL-caliber corners down the field and create enough separation to make big, splash plays. Hall has to improve his hands and concentration as drops were a big problem for him with the Tigers. However, if he can make strides in that regard, he has a chance to be a big-time steal in the sixth-round and viable offensive asset for Gruden.
Round 7, Pick 4: Montre Hartage, CB, Northwestern
I legitimately am baffled that cornerback is not mentioned more heavily as a need for this Raiders team. Gareon Conley was a first-rounder in 2017, as mentioned, but his future is far from certain. Outside of him, they severely lack depth. As such, Oakland takes another corner here in Montre Hartage out of Northwestern.
Hartage largely excels in zone coverage, but is physical in man coverage and has the short-area quickness to succeed underneath. He’s not a tremendous athlete, though, and can get beat down the field. Having said that, he has enough success on tape and solid traits to be a usable player taken late in the NFL Draft.
Round 7, Pick 21: Brett Rypien, QB, Boise State
I’m not thoroughly convinced — or at least as much as some are — that the Raiders will give up on Derek Carr in the immediate future. Having said that, having more bodies in the quarterback room isn’t a bad thing, so Oakland takes a flier on Brett Rypien with their final pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Rypien isn’t your typical seventh-round quarterback because of how much he does well as he has solid athleticism and has shown great accuracy when he’s kept clean. However, his reads can be slow, he can get rattled when the pressure is cranked up and his accuracy is a bit inconsistent. Overall, that makes him a project, but a worthwhile one for a team like the Raiders.
