New Orleans Saints: 7-Round 2019 mock draft after NFC Championship loss
By Randy Gurzi
Round 6: Corbin Kaufusi, DT, BYU
After losing picks earlier in the draft, the Saints start having multiple picks in the final two rounds. Their first sixth-round pick was part of the Bridgewater trade as they landed the quarterback as well as the Jets pick in Round 6.
Now with their own, they land a defensive tackle capable of bringing pressure up the middle in Corbin Kaufusi from BYU. The 6-9, 285-pound Kaufusi recorded 122 tackles and 13.5 sacks the past two seasons and could be a great piece on the line for the Saints. He’s a two-sport athlete who also played basketball and could bring some great athleticism to the field.
Round 7: E.J. Ejiya, LB, North Texas
In the seventh round, the Saints are again on the board twice with the first coming due to sending Devaroe Lawrence to the Cleveland Browns. This time, they add linebacker E.J. Ejiya from North Texas. He played at a smaller school but was all over the field with 121 tackles and nine sacks as a senior.
Round 7: Jamal Custis, WR, Syracuse
If they don’t re-sign Dez Bryant this offseason, the Saints will likely go for a wideout earlier than this. Assuming they do, they wait until the final round to add a developmental player. Jamal Custis broke out as a senior with 51 receptions for 906 yards and six touchdowns this season. Listed at 6-5 and 213 pounds, he’s an intriguing prospect outside.
