Seattle Seahawks: 5 Players to target in 2019 free agency
By Samuel Teets
It’s no time for the Seattle Seahawks to get complacent. They need to improve for 2019 and free agency offers the perfect opportunity to do just that.
The Seattle Seahawks had an impressive 2018 season. They finished with a 10-6 record and made the playoffs, two things few people expected them to do before the season began. Unfortunately, the team was bounced from the postseason in the Wild Card Round.
Obviously, Seattle isn’t satisfied with that outcome. The team wants to get back to its championship-winning ways and that will require adding more players, both through the draft and free agency. This article will focus on the best current players that the team can add to its ranks.
To clarify one thing before we go any farther, I will not be including any Seahawks players who are set to be free agents on this list. So, Frank Clark and K.J. Wright are off the table. I’ve already written about Seahawks players entering free agency and what Seattle should do with them. Here, the focus will be solely on new players who Seattle could bring in from other teams. This way we can see more possibilities and explore more avenues for improvement.
The current free agency class has a handful of top-tier players, but there are also a lot of borderline Pro Bowlers and solid starters. Those are guys who will get good contracts, but won’t force teams too dig to deep into their wallets. That level of depth among free agent players is exciting because the landscape of the NFL can really be redone when a team plays the market well.
Just look at what the Los Angeles Rams did last year. Now they’re headed to the Super Bowl. That shows just how important free agent signings are. And here are five players the Seattle Seahawks should be looking at in 2019.
