Other options

Before we wrap things up, some other players that should be considered need to be mentioned — my honorable mentions, if you will. Golden Tate caught my eye initially because he was originally drafted by Seattle, but I don’t see why the Seahawks would add another aging route runner to their receiver room. Tate is actually a few weeks younger than Doug Baldwin, but both have similar styles and Seattle should be trying to get younger at that position anyways.

I also considered Stephen Gostkowski for a spot on this list. Yes, the soon to be 35-year old and longtime Patriot is going to be a free agent this offseason. Considering how Sebastian Janikowski‘s contract has expired, I thought it would be good for the team to pick up a new kicker whose name ends in “kowski”.

Center Matt Paradis will also be up for grabs this summer. He did miss the second half of the season with a significant injury, but that could drive down his price tag and he’d be an improvement over Justin Britt.

My final thought was about signing a cornerback. Ronald Darby is probably the most talented cornerback available, but he’s missed close to half of the last two seasons. Because of that, Kareem Jackson or Bryce Callahan seem like better options. Even though I’m throwing this idea out there, I don’t see the Seahawks signing a starting level cornerback in free agency. They like Shaquill Griffin and Tre Flowers too much to do that.

I’m not sure that any of these signings will happen though. There’s a chance Seattle goes in an entirely different direction. I am sure of one thing, though: The Seahawks have to find ways to retain player or fill all of the holes caused free agency while still managing to improve and add talent. That seems like a tall order, but that’s what Super Bowl seeking teams have to do.
