Tevin Coleman

Last offseason, the Bears went and picked off one of the Atlanta Falcons’ players in free agency. That player was Taylor Gabriel and he had a pretty good season. Perhaps the Bears can go to the well again and take another Falcon for their offense — this time Tevin Coleman.

Coleman has done a great job in a backup role in Atlanta. He had 1,540 rushing yards and 734 receiving yards. Also, he had a total of 20 touchdowns (14 rushing and six receiving). Again, this is as a backup.

In 2018, Coleman got a chance to start when Devonta Freeman missed nearly the entire season. Coleman got to start 14 games after starting just six in the previous three seasons. He rushed for 800 yards and added 276 receiving yards. He had four rushing touchdowns and five receiving touchdowns.

Coleman can hurt a defense two ways — he has the speed to run away from defenders but also runs with power to go through them when necessary. Having him team up with Cohen would give the Bears an incredible backfield. With both of them on the field, the defense has to pick its poison and get hurt by the other one.

Coleman has proven that he deserves to start somewhere. He’ll get his opportunity and going to Chicago would be a win for him and for the Bears.

2019 NFL Mock Draft: Kyler goes No. 1. dark. Next

There are other great running backs who some want to see in a Chicago Bears uniform such as Le’Veon Bell and Kareem Hunt. Bell will cost too much for the Bears liking. Hunt will be an interesting case. Even if he does what the league requires of him in order to come back, he’ll likely face a suspension. Do the Bears actually keep Howard and have him and Hunt late in the season? Also, does ownership take a chance on him after the Ray McDonald fiasco?

This is a big decision for the Chicago Bears. They need to have a running back who fits into Matt Nagy’s system. They need to decide if Howard can fit better going on. If not, they need to find a good replacement.
