Here are three quarterbacks to look at should the Washington Redskins decide to draft a quarterback in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft

Last season, the Washington Redskins made a move at quarterback with one of the earliest announced trades in recent memory. Even before the Super Bowl was played, it was announced that Washington had struck a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs to acquire Alex Smith in exchange for a third-round pick and cornerback Kendall Fuller.

The former Kansas City starter was on the way out as Patrick Mahomes was ready to take over the job with the Chiefs. As for the Redskins, they were done playing tag with Kirk Cousins — who played on the franchise tag two seasons in a row.

Smith played well for the Redskins, leading them to a 6-4 record while completing 62.5 percent of his passes for 2,180 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions. Then, he suffered an ugly injury as his leg was broken in a Week 11 contest against the Houston Texans.

There have been reports of concerns about his future following the injury and Smith was recently seen at a Washington Wizards game with a giant brace which suggests he’s still a long ways from playing. Even if he does get healthy by the time the season starts, he will be 35 years old, meaning the Redskins could be looking for a potential replacement soon anyway.

With that in mind, we look at three prospects they can consider drafting during the 2019 NFL Draft as either an understudy or fill-in for Smith.
