2. Kyler Murray, Oklahoma

One option that could appeal to some — but freak out others ‚— is Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray. Should the Redskins want him, it would likely take a first-round pick. It could even cost more by way of trade into an earlier portion of the first.

That could bring back some back memories as the last time Washington moved up for a Heisman winning quarterback it was to get Robert Griffin III. Murray and RG3 were not only both Heisman winners, but they were also both incredible dual-threat athletes. And Griffin’s ability to run ended up being his curse as his incredible rookie season was followed up with some nasty injuries and a run of ineffectiveness.

While that turned out poorly, Murray needs to be looked at for who he is — not for what Griffin wasn’t. Hesitation is expected due to the past, but Murray could still prove to be a solid pro. And there are countless believers in the young man who is choosing an NFL career over baseball.

Murray finished his final season with the Sooner by throwing for 4,361 yards and 42 touchdowns. He added another 12 touchdowns on the ground while topping 1,000 yards rushing. He took on the difficult task of replacing Baker Mayfield and excelled more than anyone expected.

Should Washington make this move, there will be plenty of excitement, but there will also be plenty who worry about the undersized Murray suffering an injury and losing part of what makes him great.
