Tom Brady holds the record for most appearances in the Super Bowl, but what other records does the New England Patriots quarterback hold?

Super Bowl 53 places a team full of first-timers against one of the most seasoned championship teams ever. The New England Patriots own the record for the most appearances with 11 trips to the Super Bowls. For the Los Angeles Rams, it will be their fourth trip to the big game — with one win under their belt.

The victory for the Rams came back in the year 2000 as they followed up their 1999 campaign with a win over the Tennessee Titans. Their last appearance was two seasons later when they lost, ironically enough, to the New England Patriots.

That was win No. 1 for Tom Brady, who has gone on to become the most decorated championship quarterback to play the game. Brady will now play in his ninth Super Bowl while looking for win No. 6 — which would tie the top franchise in the NFL.

Both his wins and games played are records, but considering how often he’s been there, it’s not surprising to learn he has several more records to his name. Here are all the records that Brady owns, and can expand upon in Super Bowl 53.

Most Games Played — 8
Most Games on the Winning Team — 5
Most Passes Attempted, Career — 357
Most Passes Attempted, Single Game — 62
Most Passes Completed, Career — 235
Most Passes Completed, Single Game — 43 (also in second with 37)
Most Consecutive Completions, Single Game — 16
Most Passing Yards, Career — 2,576
Most Passing Yards, Single Game — 505 (also in second with 466)
Most Touchdown Passes, Career — 18
Most Attempts without an interception, single game — 48

That’s 11 total records held by Brady, which should aid anyone who argues about who is the best quarterback to play the game. While he may not be universally loved, the fact is he’s been in the championship game more than any other quarterback and he’s also put up some of the greatest performances in those games.

On Sunday, Feb. 3, Brady looks to add even more records to what is already an impressive list.
