Super Bowl 53: 20 Potential MVPs for Patriots vs. Rams
By Dan Parzych
8. Aaron Donald
Donald was already considered to be a freak of an athlete after watching how quickly he worked his way to becoming a top defender in the NFL, but what the former Pittsburgh star accomplished this season was insane.
After finally receiving the hefty contract he spent years fighting for, and clearly deserved, Donald put together a career year for the Rams in 2018 by recording 20.5 sacks, which is even more amazing to consider for a player who constantly receives extra attention from opponents.
Even more important, Donald and the rest of his teammates on defense have stepped up their game in a big way this postseason after watching the unit stop the run for a change unlike the regular season.
Brady has dealt with plenty of amazing defenders throughout his career, but this new, improved version of Donald could be someone the future Hall of Famer has yet to see.
No matter how hard the Patriots try to protect Brady, the offensive line may not be able to stop Donald from getting to their quarterback, even if they double-team him.
Los Angeles always knew that Donald was a special player, and watching him win MVP while helping the Rams win the Super Bowl would be the perfect way to end what has been an incredible season.
