12. Green Bay Packers: Jachai Polite, EDGE, Florida

Matt LaFleur will get his first crack at running a team as the Green Bay Packers selected the young man known for his work with quarterbacks to be their head coach. One thing LaFleur did to help ease his transition was keeping Mike Pettine on staff as the defensive coordinator. This gives him a former head coach to lean on but also limits the change the defense will have to go through with a new coach.

As for Pettine, in order for him to be successful, he needs more help when it comes to personnel. At the moment, the best pass rushers on the team are Clay Matthews and Nick Perry. Matthews, who was flagged in 2018 just about every time he got near a quarterback it seemed, he’s nearing the end of the line and the Packers could look to go younger. Perry could also be a question mark as durability has been a major concern for him.

What all this means is the Packers need to add young help on the edge. A perfect fit for then would be Jachai Polite from Florida. Polite had a career-year for the Gators in 2018, recording 11 sacks. After having just four total in his first two seasons, Polite went from a relatively unknown player to a star in just one year. Now, he finds himself ready to be the featured edge rusher on one of the more prominent teams in the NFL.
