3. New York Jets: Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama

Last season, the New York Jets paid quite the price to move up from No. 6 to No. 3 in order to get themselves a starting quarterback. There was some risk involved though as they made the move well before the draft, which meant they had no way of knowing which quarterback would be on the board when they did pick.

The Cleveland Browns and New York Giants were ahead of them and everyone knew Cleveland was going quarterback, which took one off the board. There was also speculation the Giants could go that route, or they could have traded with someone who did want a signal-caller at No. 2.

It worked out for them though as Baker Mayfield went to the Browns and the Giants took a running back in Saquon Barkley. That left Sam Darnold there for the Jets, and he’s set to be their franchise gun-slinger for the next decade.

Now, the Jets get him some protection in Jonah Williams from Alabama. He had a terrible game against Clemson, but there’s plenty of time for him to make people forget about that game. With a few good workouts — as well as time for GMs to review his tape outside of that one game — Williams climbs back atop the board for offensive tackles.
