Philadelphia Eagles: 7 Prospects to target in 2019 NFL Draft
5. Nasir Adderley, S, Delaware
In case you haven’t heard, this draft class doesn’t have many options at safety. Therefore, teams looking for a player at the position in this draft class will have to take one early, or settle for a player they believe can develop into is starting safety. In the case of the Eagles, they need a safety. Nasir Adderley has the patience and ability to mirror receivers in man coverage and could be their guy.
Because he has the ability to click and close he’s effective in off-man as well. Adderley is tenacious run defender who can set the tone for a defense. Finding a player that can not only play safety but drop down into the nickel is ideal, which Adderley offers as a versatile athlete on the back end.
The Draft Network’s Jon Ledyard believes Adderley’s traits makes him a top 15-20 prospect in the 2019 class:
"The toughest thing about Adderley’s evaluation was finding a weakness, as he appears to be a top-notch athlete with exceptional short-area quickness and fluidity… His traits and intangibles seem to be perfectly in line with the top safeties in the league today… Adderley will likely be a top 15-30 player on my board."
Although he didn’t face the greatest competition, he dominated where he was. He doesn’t have the elite range of a single high safety, but can do enough to play free safety in the NFL. Adderley would be an ideal fit for Philadelphia if he falls to them.
