1. Yodny Cajuste, OT, West Virginia

Jason Peters’ age is a major concern as he’ll be 37 years old in 2019. Naturally, this could lead the Eagles to draft an offensive tackle to replace him. After all, there’s a 2019 option on the table that may not get picked up. Even if it does, they can find a combo guard/tackle in this year’s draft.

An ideal fit is Yodny Cajuste from West Virginia. There aren’t many glaring weaknesses in Cajuste’s game. However, he does tend to lean forward creating some balance issues, giving the defender the edge. Nevertheless, his length, athleticism and quickness makes him ideally suited to play tackle.

Cover1.net reporter Jordan Reid raved about Cajuste’s athleticism:

The 6-5, 315-pound offensive tackle does a great job with hand placement, sinking his hips and driving his man off the ball. Off the snap, he displays a powerful punch. With the style of offense the Eagles run, Cajuste’s ability to dominate in the run game will help tremendously.

There’s isn’t any reason to draft Cajuste as a guard based not on his skill-set. However, the Eagles could kill two birds with one stone. Should Peters return, Cajuste has the strength and tenacity to play guard. If he retires, Cajuste is a day one starter at left tackle. Lineman will go fast since there isn’t a ton of depth in this draft.

Since Cajuste is somewhat limited to a power run scheme, he’ll likely be available in the second round. If lineman fly off the board, the Eagles could consider him on Day 1.
