The Indianapolis Colts enter the offseason off a productive 2018, but need more depth at wide receiver, which they can get in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Indianapolis Colts enter the 2019 NFL offseason off of a playoff berth earned by winning nine of their last 10 regular season games following a 1-5 start to the year. Moreover, Frank Reich’s team earned a Wild Card Round victory over the rival Texans before falling to the Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the postseason. However, the offseason doesn’t come without needs that the Colts must improve upon.

T.Y. Hilton has been a terrific wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts over the past few seasons, but unfortunately he is not the typical No. 1 wide receiver you see on a team. He is small and quick and built for the deep ball, and the Colts need to add a possession wide receiver to complement Hilton’s deep threat ability.

As the Colts have an extra second-round pick acquired in their 2018 trade with the Jets in the draft, that’s a perfect time to target such a player in the 2019 NFL Draft. With that, let’s look at three receivers Indianapolis could target in Round 2.

Kelvin Harmon, WR, NC State

Kelvin Harmon could be the guy to help further expand the Colts offense. Harmon enters the draft with back to back 1,000-yard seasons as a sophomore and junior for the Wolfpack. At 6-3, Harmon has the prototypical size of an X-receiver in the NFL. He uses his strength and size to go up and win 50/50 balls against defenders. Harmon catches with his hands, not his body, which makes him a very reliable target near the sideline and in the red zone.

Harmon is not the quickest wide receiver you will see in the draft but makes up for this with his route running and size to create separation from defensive backs. His presence in the intermediate part of the field would certainly help open things up deep for T.Y. Hilton and his presence in the red zone would open things up more for Eric Ebron and Jack Doyle.

The NC State product will still require some polishing, but has the potential to step in day 1 for the Colts on the outside and catch balls from Andrew Luck. There is a chance Harmon is selected before the Colts pick if he has a good Combine. But with a good wide receiver class, the Colts may get lucky and see him on the board still in the second round.
