Super Bowl 53: Where is Patriots vs. Rams being played?
Super Bowl 53 is this Sunday night, and where will the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots be playing?
Super Bowl 53 will see the AFC champion New England Patriots and the NFC champion Los Angeles Rams face each other in the final game of the season, as it will be played in Atlanta, Ga.’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Being the relatively new home of the Atlanta Falcons — Mercedes-Benz Stadium opened in 2017 and has a retractable roof — this is the first Super Bowl in the new stadium, but this is the third Super Bowl in history to be played in Atlanta.
The first Super Bowl held in Atlanta was back in 1994 when the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVIII by a 30-13 score as Emmitt Smith was the MVP of the game. The second Super Bowl held in Atlanta was held in 2000, when the Rams defeated the Tennessee Titans by a 23-16 score and Kurt Warner was the MVP.

This year’s Super Bowl features two different generations of head coaches and quarterbacks, with the Patriots bringing five-time champion head coach Bill Belichick and five-time champion quarterback Tom Brady against a coach and quarterback combo making their Super Bowl debut in Rams head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Jared Goff.
New England and the Rams met once previously in the Super Bowl when the Patriots defeated the Rams, 20-17, where Brady was the MVP, on Feb. 3, 2002. To put that into perspective, when that game happened,McVay was in high school.
The Super Bowl appearance by the Rams organization will be their fourth visit to the big game, as they are 1-2 in their first three trips to the championship game. The Patriots will be playing in their 11th Super Bowl as a franchise, an NFL record, where they are 5-5 overall in their first 10 games.
Super Bowl 53 will air on CBS with Jim Nantz and Tony Romo calling the game and is scheduled to kickoff at 6:30 p.m. ET.
