New York Jets: 7-Round 2019 mock draft at Super Bowl week
By Cory Kinnan
Round 4, Pick 3: Darrell Henderson, RB, Memphis
The Jets ended the 2018 season ranking 26th in yards gained on the ground and 30th in yard per attempt. After adding Isaiah Crowell in the 2018 offseason, the Jets were hoping for a boost in their running game, but Crowell suffered an injury that put him on the shelf after only 13 games.
Bilal Powell was also put on Injured Reserve after only seven games as well. Elijah McGuire ended up starting three games for New York, but was only able to manage 343 yards and no touchdowns on 80 attempts. With Powell over the age of 30 and coming off of a serious injury and the ineffectiveness of McGuire, the Jets should look to add another running back to split carries with Crowell.
Darrell Henderson came off of a sophomore season where he totaled over 1,300 total yards and 11 touchdowns and decided to blow those numbers out of the water in his junior season. Henderson finished his junior campaign with over 1,900 yards and a monstrous 22 touchdowns on the ground and added 300 yards and three scores receiving as well. Totaling over 2,200 yards and 25 touchdowns was enough to earn him All-American honors in 2018 and gave him the opportunity to forego his senior season.
At the beginning of round four, Henderson should still find himself on the board. The Jets should look to add him to a running back room in need of talent.
