New England Patriots: 7-Round 2019 mock draft after Super Bowl 53
Nobody loves a little route running specialist out of the slot more than Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. Hunter Renfrow isn’t the most physically gifted receiver in this draft class, but he is a rock solid slot receiver who knows how to get open in the middle of the field.
He is a perfect fit as a slot receiver for the Patriots offense. Plus, with a ton of big-game experience under his belt and great offensive awareness, Renfrow could come in and make an immediate impact on the offensive side of the ball.
With Samuel, Hockenson and now Renfrow, the New England Patriots would give Brady an exciting new trio of pass catchers to help jumpstart their offense.
With both Malcom Brown and Danny Shelton set to hit unrestricted free agency, defensive tackle could quickly become a major position of need for the Patriots. In the fifth round of this mock draft, New England finds some necessary depth up front.
Daylon Mack is a big and powerful defensive lineman who has shown some ability as a two-gap defender up front. He digs in well against the run, plugging up the middle of the offensive line against the run.
Mack has some nice run defense skills, but he also moves well for a big man inside. He can penetrate as one-gap run defender and even shows some upside as a power rusher. Mack is a talented defensive tackle who could help fill a position that may become a major need.
