The New England Patriots tied the Steelers for most franchise Super Bowl wins as they topped the Rams, but it was anything but a pretty sight to see.

For New England Patriots fans, there’s no doubt that they dreamed of the scene at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday night. In their visions, the Patriots were victorious in Super Bowl LIII, topping the vaunted Los Angeles Rams and setting winning records along the way, most notably tying the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl wins by a single franchise with six. And the sight would be glorious.

Well, part of that did play out on Sunday night in Super Bowl LIII. At the end of the day, the Patriots were able to get the victory over the Los Angeles Rams. Having said that, even if it’s beautiful for Patriots fans to see title No. 6, there was nothing pretty about how it transpired.

The Patriots won in Atlanta on Sunday night by a final of 13-3 in a game that was even uglier than that score might indicate. On the part of New England, they would move the ball a bit, but see drives stall more times than not. As for Jared Goff and the Rams, there was nothing going all night long for them.

Credit the Patriots defense and, of course, head coach Bill Belichick for how that defense played against one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL. However, there’s no denying the fact that this was not a fun Super Bowl to watch for those who like good football.

The only true bright spots did, of course, come from the victors from New England. Julian Edelman was a beast all game, catching everything in sight and winning in man-to-man and against the zone time and again. The other, however, came on the lone touchdown drive of the game as tight end Rob Gronkowski and Brady connected for a beautiful dime just short of the goal-line.

At the end of the day, the dynasty continues out of New England, and it’s no doubt the joy of every fan in the Boston/New England area. Having said that, their historic title for the franchise and for Brady did not come in any kind of enjoyable fashion. Even still, a win is a win, and the Patriots have plenty of those in the Big Game.
