Round 4: Penny Hart, WR, Georgia State

There was a little bit of a mini-drama already this offseason for the Dallas Cowboys as Cole Beasley made some remarks about the team as he enters free agency. Beasley was upset about the lack of targets he received and said that the front office dictates where the ball goes.

Stephen Jones came back out and sais that they decide who gets paid and from there, it’s up to the coaches. Jerry Jones said he doesn’t mind Beasley’s comments at all and that’s just who he is. In the end, don’t be surprised if Beasley is gone this offseason, but it would have nothing to do with any of what transpired.

More from Dallas Cowboys

The real reason Beasley could be gone is his contract. As mentioned before, the Cowboys have some big-name young guys to dish out some serious coin and Beasley could be left out. While he’s a valuable player, he is going to be 30 years old and plays a position that can be replaced with a mid-round pick.

And that’s what happens here as Dallas uses their fourth-round selection on Penny Hart from Georgia State. Easily the most exciting player to come from the small school in a long time, Hart stood out as a precise route runner during Senior Bowl practices and has 2,960 career yards and 19 touchdowns.

He’s shifty, fast, a great route runner, and has excellent hands. He won’t come in and be as polished as Beasley, but he can fill the role and would be fine being behind Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup in terms of targets coming his way.
