NFL Offseason 2019: Predicting Week 1 starting quarterbacks for needy teams

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jameis Winston
2018 was a roller coaster for quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick, on multiple occasions benched in favor of the other. However, Winston in the last year of his rookie deal, will be given one more opportunity to prove that he can be the franchise quarterback that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers thought that would be when they drafted him first overall in 2015.
In 9 starts in 2019, Winston threw for almost 3,000 yards and 19 touchdowns while completing 64 percent of his passes. Slinging the ball around the field has never been Winston’s issue, it is the turnovers. In his limited 2018 campaign, Winston still managed to throw 14 interceptions. Basic math would show that he threw more than one interception per game played this season.
As Bruce Arians and his staff, including former NFL quarterback and now Tampa Bay offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich take over the Bucs, they will seek to unlock Winston’s full potential. If Arians and Leftwich cannot get the best out of Winston, then I am not sure anyone can.
On the field however, is half the battle; Winston cannot afford another suspension or off-the-field issue as he has had two prior to the NFL and then one last season. Winston has one last chance to prove his worth to Tampa Bay in 2019 and he must make the most of it.
