Oakland Raiders: 5 Realistic targets in 2019 NFL free agency
By Cory Kinnan
The Oakland Raiders are the oldest team in the NFL, this offseason they could inject a necessary infusion of talented youth with these free agent targets.
Coming off of an abysmal first season under John Gruden, the Oakland Raiders enter the 2019 offseason after a 4-12 finish to their 2018 campaign. Some good news for the Raiders and their fans is that the team officially has a home, announcing that they will play their 2019 home games at Oracle Park, the home of the San Francisco 49ers.
In terms of the current state of the Raiders organization, just take it one crisis at a time.
More good news: the team is flushed with cash, currently sitting with $71.25 million in cap space with a few more contracts, such as AJ McCarron and Seth Roberts, that can be voided without eating any dead cash. Not to mention, aging veterans such as Jordy Nelson and Donald Penn can be released with only small penalties while freeing up more spending money.
Expect the Raiders to be big spenders this offseason, with their most pressing needs at pass rusher and wide receiver after the trades of both Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper, in their secondary, and at linebacker. While the Raiders still remain years away from competing for a playoff spot, they can make some large strides in the 2019 offseason.
In what is expected to be quite the spending spree this offseason, the Raiders are well positioned to make a play at some big time names in free agency. Here are five players that could make their way to the Bay Area in 2019.
