Do not trade Cornerback Jalen Ramsey

Earlier in the week NFL Spin Zone’s Larry Brake wrote a nice article discussing the possibility of Jalen Ramsey being traded. And while it is still a possibility Ramsey is moved, that idea is absolutely crazy to me. Since being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Ramsey has been one of the leagues most elite cornerbacks. Ramsey has also been very reliable for the Jaguars, playing in all 16 games in each of his first three years as a pro.

One thing Ramsey hasn’t been afraid to do is voice his opinion. Whether it be about opposing quarterbacks or his own talent, Ramsey has been very vocal. Ramsey knows that he is one of the league’s most elite cornerbacks, and as it nears time for him to get a new contract, he is going to want to be paid like a top corner in the league.

This is ultimately what could lead to him getting traded. If Jacksonville chooses not to re-sign him, they would be better off getting draft compensation for him now rather than to let him walk.

Doing this would be a bad idea. The Jaguars have them an elite cornerback, vocal or not, he makes this defensive secondary what it is. Many teams search years to find the type of cornerback that Ramsey is, which is what would make him almost irreplaceable. The Jaguars need to lock up Ramsey long term and continue to make him one of the key pieces of this defense. Jalen Ramsey needs to be a Jaguar for life.
