Washington Redskins: 7 Prospects to target in the 2019 NFL Draft
2. Kelvin Harmon, WR, NC State
Whether or not they retain Jamison Crowder, the Redskins should look to bolster their receiving corps. What they need most on the outside is a playmaker, someone who can win at every level. That’s Kelvin Harmon out of North Carolina State.
The 6-3, 213-pound Harmon is a physical playmaker who does it all. On underneath routes, Harmon’s ability to separate makes him an ideal weapon in Gruden’s offense. He can win deep despite not having elite speed. Having said that, his speed is deceiving. When the ball is in the air, Harmon wins with length and physicality.
As a run blocker, he dominates and appears to enjoy it. Harmon has No. 1 traits and is a player who can make an immediate impact. His strength, physical traits and ability to win 50/50 balls make him an immediate red zone threat.
Harmon understands how to use his size and box out defenders. On deep routes, he shows elite ball skills and body control. He’ll immediately become a reliable option because of his great hands and excellent traits. Whether it’s in or out breaking routes, deep or intermediate, Harmon is more than capable.
While he has his weaknesses, the Redskins’ offensive scheme would minimize them. Luckily, the Redskins may have an opportunity to take him with the No. 15 pick.
