The Dallas Cowboys could improve their roster this offseason in free agency, and here are five realistic options for them to consider

For years, the Dallas Cowboys have been rather conservative in the free agency market, which has been part strategy as well as part necessity. While they do believe that free agency often means overpaying, the Cowboys were also financially strapped for years thanks to big contracts given to veteran players.

Even with that being the case — and them having some dead money left from players like Tony Romo and Dez Bryant — Dallas did try and make a big move in 2018 NFL Free Agency. They went after Sammy Watkins, but he decided to join the Kansas City Chiefs instead.

Looking ahead to 2019, they may be willing to once again make some plays for players in the open market. Most of their dead money is coming off and there may finally be some flexibility in their cap as they have an estimated $46 million according to OverTheCap.com.

Of course, they do have their own to take care of first. Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is due for a new contract and their three big offensive weapons — Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Amari Cooper — are nearing the end of their respective deals and will also be looking to get paid real soon.

While that will limit how much they can spend, the Dallas front office has been really good about moving money around and making things work. With that being said, here are five realistic signings they could go for should they decide to bolster their roster in 2019.
