Round 3, Pick 21: Kendall Sheffield, CB, Ohio State

In 2018, starting cornerback Shaquill Griffin took a step back after a solid rookie season where he netted an interception and 15 passes defended; this season Griffin seemed to be picked on often. While seeing an increase in interceptions from one to two, he saw a significant decrease in passes defended and finished with a below average grade of 50.7 from Pro Football Focus (subscription required).

Luckily, the team snagged 6-3 Tre Flowers in the fifth round last season and he performed well in his rookie season opposite Griffin, playing to the tune of a 64.7 PFF grade. While the team can avoid using a draft pick early, late day-two seems like the sweet spot to address the need.

Kendall Sheffield, while his production was not too hot at Ohio State, is expected to excel at the Combine later this month and improve his stock. Late Day 2 may be where he falls, and could potentially find himself sneaking into the first round. Here, he becomes a Seahawk at the end of the third round.
