As the Dallas Cowboys build their 2019 roster, there is bound to be some unexpected moves. Here are three possible cuts that would be considered a surprise.

The talk centered around the Dallas Cowboys since the offseason officially began has been all about upcoming contracts. The top priority is clearly defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, who played 2018 on the franchise tag.

A free agent for the second season in a row, Lawrence is going to need a new deal as the tag will be too costly this season. And thanks to that leverage from Lawrence, he’s going to command a big chunk of the estimated $46 million in cap space (according to OverTheCap.com).

While Lawrence is clearly in need of a new contract, he won’t be alone as several other stars are winding down on their rookie deals and looking to get a second contract. Dak Prescott is one as he enters the final year of his deal, and considering his position, he will get paid big time.

Also set to get paid will be linebacker Jaylon Smith and cornerback Byron Jones. Each had their best seasons in 2018 and enter 2019 on the final season of their rookie contracts. The same can also be said of Amari Cooper, who was added halfway through the season and enters the last year of his contract.

There’s also a player who wants a new deal despite having two seasons left — Ezekiel Elliott. The star running back has twice led the NFL in rushing and wants to rework his deal, with there even being hints at a possible holdout if he doesn’t get paid.

With all that going on, it’s likely that the Dallas Cowboys will have to make some moves. Players like Sean Lee and Terrance Williams will likely be gone, but some surprise cuts could take place as well as the front office finds a way to pay the players they want to keep. Here are three possible players who could get a pink slip and shock many in the process.
