The Los Angeles Rams pretty much laid an egg in Super Bowl 53, but have a bright future ahead, especially if they can hit in the 2019 NFL Draft.

From what the Los Angeles Rams did in the 2018 offseason, it was clear that they were eyeing a run at the Super Bowl this past season. Though many have questioned whether or not they should’ve been there given the no-call in the NFC Championship Game, head coach Sean McVay’s team indeed made it to the Big Game to take on the New England Patriots. The problem is, they seemingly forgot to show up.

Admittedly, the Rams defense played one of their best games of the entire year in Super Bowl LIII. Wade Phillips’ unit held Tom Brady and Co. to just 13 points in the game, something that seemed highly unlikely going into the big matchup. The issue was that McVay’s vaunted offense couldn’t muster absolutely anything.

After 60 minutes (and a late missed field goal), the Rams ended Super Bowl LIII with just three points to their credit. Quarterback Jared Goff looked supremely rattled from start to finish as he was pressured, shockingly, for much of the night. Furthermore, the mystery surrounding Todd Gurley’s health and usage remained as he played sparingly throughout. The result was by far their worst offensive performance under McVay.

That loss in Super Bowl LIII leaves the Rams in a tough position moving forward. After going all in with 2018 offseason moves, they will have some key roster turnover and tough decisions to make. With Goff and Gurley still in-tow, however, they still have a bright future, but their situation makes hitting on their selections in the 2019 NFL Draft exceptionally critical for their immediate future.

The Rams don’t have a second round pick thanks to the Marcus Peters trade, but still have seven overall selections to work with. We see what the Los Angeles Rams can do in the 2019 NFL Draft with a seven-round mock.
