Round 5: Joe Giles-Harris, LB, Duke

The argument could certainly be made that the Rams need to address linebacker before the fifth round, but they luck out with Joe Giles-Harris falling to them at a true position of need. While he’s not a particularly great athlete, the Duke product might be the most mentally sound linebacker in the 2019 draft class, or at least he’s among the best. Adding that behind the Rams front would be a great boom for the corps.

Round 6: Chuma Edoga, OT, USC

In the Super Bowl, the Rams offensive line that had been one of the NFL’s best looked anemic against the Patriots. While they hope to keep that group intact, they need depth at tackle. Chuma Edoga out of USC is a developmental, late-round tackle prospect that needs to get bigger and stronger to consistently succeed in the NFL. Having said that, he’s a great athlete who could rise with his work at the Combine, especially if he’s put on more muscle too.

Round 7: Kyle Shurmur, QB, Vanderbilt

Luckily for the Rams in the regular season, Jared Goff remained healthy and submitted quite a good season. However, one of the big narratives for LA in the preseason was how poorly the likes of Sean Mannion performed in the backup role. Thus, in the seventh round, the Rams should look to add another body to compete in the quarterback room.

The son of New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur, Kyle Shurmur can look like a high-end prospect at times. When kept clean, he has nice tools and the apparent ability to make any throw. However, his game falls apart under pressure, something he must improve to be viable in the NFL. As a late-round flier, though, Shurmur could prove valuable for the Rams.
