The Memphis Express and Birmingham Iron face off in the inaugural week of the AAF, and here’s how you can watch the Alliance of American Football.
While the Super Bowl has been played in the NFL, a new football season and league is just getting started. On Saturday, the Alliance of American Football (AAF) kicked off its inaugural season with two games worth of action. Now, two more games will transpire on Sunday afternoon and evening, starting with a matchup between the Memphis Express and Birmingham Iron.
One of the smart things that the AAF has done is set up allocation rules for players based on where they played in college or where they last played in the NFL if their college is not near one of the eight teams. Thus, you have a semi-built-in fan base already that should be more inclined to go watch old favorites play.
For the Memphis Express, fans in the area will get looks at notable names like Zach Mettenberger, Zac Stacy, Pig Howard and many other players that took up residence in Tennessee at various times in their football careers. In the case of the Birmingham Irons, players such as Trent Richardson, Blake Sims, Quan Bray and others will represent players from Alabama, Auburn and so on.
Thus, new fans will get a fun wrinkle to their AAF games, in addition to simply getting to watch football still after the NFL has subsided.
