5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ed Oliver, DT, Houston

Ed Oliver, who was discussed preseason as a potential threat to go first overall, has seen his stock drop a hair as concerns have begun to arise about his size and speed: Too small to potentially play on the interior, not quick enough to play on the edge. However, Oliver does have the production that turns heads and has drawn comparisons to Rams superstar Aaron Donald.

Shooting onto the scene as a true freshman, Oliver recorded five sacks and 22 tackles for loss in his first season for the Cougars. Oliver was set for another very productive season, but was hampered by injuries, adding three sacks and 14.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage in only eight games. He finished his career at Houston with a grand total of 13.5 sacks and 53 tackles for loss. He displayed that he is a force on the defensive line.

Tampa Bay finds themselves back in the market for a defensive tackle after free agent signing Beau Allen and 2018 first-round pick Vita Vea struggled with consistency. Not only that, but perennial Pro-Bowler Gerald McCoy and the Bucs seem destined for a divorce after nine seasons as reports of rifts between player and management have been reported. Oliver could fill an immediate need and give the Buccaneers a young duo with Vea for years to come.
