Michael Deiter, Wisconsin (6-6, 321 pounds)

Michael Deiter gives the Bears some flexibility. He played center, tackle, and guard. He played most of the time at left guard but he probably lands at right guard at the next level. He is a good run blocker and respectable as a pass protector. He’d do well under Hiestand’s guidance.

For a player of his size, Deiter moves well. He has excellent feet and can move well to square up the defender. That helps him be a great puller, as he can get out of his stance and push off to generate momentum and power.

Having played multiple positions, Deiter gives the line some experience everywhere. He has a good understanding of what each position demands. Deiter has a good ability to latch onto a defender. He does a good job placing his hands inside and anchoring himself, keeping the defender from getting a good rush.

In addition to his mobility, Deiter has good strength at the point of attack. That helps him when he gets to the second level, where he can overpower defenders. He can blast defenders and open some gaping holes.

Deiter can be a good pickup in the fourth round and help give the Bears added talent along the line. Having Hiestand develop him would be a big plus for him.
