The Orlando Apollos face off with the San Antonio Commanders in Week 2 of the AAF, and here’s all you need to know to watch.

In case you were curious if the Alliance of American Football (AAF) was going to be easy to predict, the start of Week 2 showed that’s not the case. We’ve already seen some early narratives start to shift, which is refreshing and adds more intrigue to this matchup. Now we’ll have to see what happens with the Orlando Apollos and San Antonio Commanders as they go head-to-head on Sunday afternoon in the Alamodome.

Steve Spurrier’s Apollos put forth an offensive showcase in Week 1. Led by quarterback Garrett Gilbert and running back Akeem Hunt, Orlando pulled out all of the stops from trick plays to just simply being able to do pretty much whatever they wanted. And with Terrence Garvin anchoring a stout defensive effort, the Apollos looked like one of the early teams to beat.

Having said that, the Commanders looked good in their Week 1 victory as well. Admittedly, quarterback Logan Woodside and the offense had their share of ups and downs as turnovers were an issue, but they moved the ball well overall. More pressingly, though, the San Antonio defense was a turnover-forcing machine that dominated their matchup to earn them the win.

These are two strong defenses and some potentially potent offenses going to battle in Week 2. As such, this is perhaps the marquee matchup of the Week 2 AAF slate. We’ll have to see how things go down.
